F/A-18 Operation Iraqi Freedom by Graphic Simulations - retail v1.0.0 -> v1.0.1 beta patch

Update from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 (Open Beta)

This patch is available as a downloadable update to all owners or F/A-18 OIF 1.0.0 (the original shipping version.) It primarily addresses compatibility issues with S3 (Pro Savage) and Intel (82815) integrated graphics controllers.

Changes:

1) Changed handling of instrument textures to accommodate S3 graphics controllers/drivers.

2) New texture memory management to address blank screen after flight on S3 and Intel graphics.

3) New feature: "Mouse look" allows moving the view direction during flight by holding the Alt key while moving the mouse. A new settings item allows selection of sensitivity (response speed) and of the Y axis response direction.

4) Drones are repainted white/grey rather than orange and yellow.

5) It is now possible to fly the aircraft using the keypad. Keys 4,5,6 and 8 control the ailerons and elevator of the aircraft. Also, separate right/left engine thrust control is enabled using keys 1/7 (keypad) and 3/9 respectively.

6) Delete key response in the main menu has been removed.

7) Some changes to the credits text and display font.

Installation:

The Update installation program "OIF-Update-101.exe" includes the necessary (three) files for the update, and includes a new replacement "FA-18 Op Iraqi Freedom.exe" main program file, as well as two texture images, HUD.tga and INST.tga. The update must be applied to an existing installation of "F/A-18 Operation Iraqi Freedom." It is important to use the same install folder for this update as that used during game installation.

1) Run the update install program, "OIF-Update-101.exe".

2) Follow the instructions to apply the updated files.

3) VERY IMPORTANT! For those with S3 or Intel graphics controllers, you MUST update the drivers for your video chipset. If you had no problems with graphics prior to the update, you probably do not need to update drivers further.

4) Make certain that you have installed DirectX 9, either from the game's CD-ROM or from the www.microsoft.com/directx.
